Parent and Family Guidance Series

Who:Parents and Caregivers

Families often face challenges in the home that can disrupt family harmony.  Some challenges are daily struggles, such as schedule conflicts, sibling arguments, school-related difficulties, incomplete chores, and/or excessive videogame usage.  Other challenges may be more significant, such as divorce, loss of a family member, or relocating to a new residence.  Regardless of the challenge, sometimes families develop unhealthy patterns of behavior as a result of these difficulties.

The Parent and Family Guidance Series improves family relationships by providing behavior-changing techniques to caregivers that foster responsibility and mutual respect within the home.  Topics include: Natural and Logical Consequences, Encouragement versus Praise, Discipline versus Punishment, and Understanding Goals of Misbehavior.  This series teaches immediate ready to use skills necessary for family success, and supports parents throughout the learning process.  Systematic Training for Effective Parenting (STEP) and concepts from Dr. Ross Greene's "The Explosive Child," are utilized within this series.
